Many congratulations to Origin, our Young Enterprise team made up of DHSB and DHSG students who were invited to attend the regional finals after being named best overall team in the Plymouth competition.
They faced tough competition and were delighted to be awarded the prize for the Best Trade stand,
Nichole Sanders, Head of Enterprise, said she was very proud of the team and added “Another trophy for the shelf!”
The Railway Children
We’re also very proud of Year 7 students Finn Coles and Isaac Dash who are ‘sleeping out’ tonight to raise awareness and funds for the Railway Children charity which supports vulnerable children who live at risk on the streets. The inspiration for the students’ fundraising came from a discussion in their English class.
Plymouth Passport Launched
Ms Moreton and Mr Butcher launched the Plymouth Employability Passport to Year 9 students on Wednesday.
The passport recognises skills that students demonstrate alongside their academic achievements and has been developed by Ms Moreton, other Plymouth secondary schools and the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce.
The scheme evolved from our own DHSB award that was introduced two years ago and successfully achieved by several of our current students.
Students demonstrated skills such as team working and communication skills with diverse activities including baking and selling cakes, developing teaching resources for sex education, designing web sites, playing with the BBC youth orchestra and even acting as a translator when undertaking work experience in a bank.
