Following such a busy and eventful Curriculum Challenge Week we have been settling back into school and preparing for the final two weeks of term which as usual are extremely busy.
Please have a look at last week’s Head’s Blog for pictures and stories from #DHSBCCW.
I was pleased to catch up with five students at lunch today to hear about their adventures in London.
Both the Learning Commons and DHSB Teaching Blog have been counting down to the Christmas break with a range of competitions and sharing practice about literacy.
Mr Forte and Mr Shahin have provided a special Weekend Challenge as part of their Advent competition. Tweet a festive selfie book photo using the hashtag #DHSBAdvent to get involved!
Special Events
We’re looking forward to seeing you over the next two weeks at some or all of our special events.
I’d especially like to invite you to our Carol Service, led by Year 7 students, on Monday 14 December at 7.00pm at St Andrew’s Church on Royal Parade.
Rotary Young Chef Competition
Very well done to Matt Staszewski who beat some tough competitors to take second place at the western area regional final.
Matt, who had to design and cook a three course meal for two for under £15, is through to the district final which will be held in Exeter in January.
Recruitment
We’re currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant (fixed term) and for several Exam Invigilators.
If you know of anyone who may be suitable then please ask them to check the information on our recruitment page.
If you are thinking of taking up teaching as a career then you’ll also find details of the School Experience Programme.
We work with the School Experience Programme (SEP) to offer work experience within a wide variety of subjects. We are running an Induction day in May 2016. If you are interested in finding out more about the SEP and carrying out observational and teaching experience at this outstanding school, then register with the SEP using this link.
